Murray Kia Plymouth – Light Vehicle Progression

The Kia Academy offers a bespoke apprenticeship programme that focuses on education in electrification. Kia Apprentices will obtain the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to not only become an expert Kia Technician but also ensure they have a successful career with Kia whilst maximising personal growth.
Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
- Servicing
- Vehicle maintenance
- Observing and assisting technicians
- Car technicians will be expected to see whether components and systems are secure and working properly
Training
The Kia Apprenticeship Programme operates using a 12-week cycle. Within each 12-week period, Apprentices will receive the following teaching learning and assessment:
- One college block attendance with teaching delivered by dedicated Tutors (both via VCT and face to face at the academy)
- One workplace visit face to face with their dedicated Skills Coach
- One tripartite progress review involving the Apprentice, Skills Coach and their workplace mentor
- One 1:1 teaching session with their dedicated Skills Coach via virtual classroom
Your training plan
The Apprenticeship Programme is delivered via Block Training Release at the state-of-the-art Kia Academy in Derby, as well as 1–1 tutor support in the dealership. Every 6–8 weeks, apprentices will attend the Kia Academy for block training release.
Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3 (light vehicle) Qualification:
- Servicing — working to manufacturer servicing guidelines to ensure the vehicle running at optimum performance
- Maintenance—replacing parts that have wear and tear before they fail
- Repair—diagnosing the reason for vehicle failure and fixing the problem
- Functional skills in maths and English (if required)
